Everyone walks to the beat of their own drum. We all live different lives but one thing that connects us all is music. My question is: if your life portrayed by a single album, what would your cover look like? The central idea for my sustained investigation is analyzing how different teenagers represent their life in one image.
I began asking some of my friends to describe their album in relation to their life. Some based it on their future and others on their present. After experimenting with a few of their proposals, I was not happy with the result because I wanted the album covers to be unbiased and the only way to do that is to design them for them with them in mind. I had my friends model for some of the covers and had to use stand ins for others due to COVID-19. I did various photoshoots and explored self-expression and the idea of individuality. I studied popular cover art and worked with symbolism and negative space throughout each album cover. I titled each album based on their personality and worked with different fonts, sizes, and colors.
