The question that guided my sustained investigation was, how can identity be described through insecurity and confidence? Ever since I got social media, I have been able to see the damage that is caused from this. These influencers have been able to control and create their own image of beauty. This image is impossible to obtain for both young men and women. As a result, I have personally seen my friends begin to hate the way they look, have their self confidence plummet, and develop an eating disorder. I decided to explore identity and how our differences make us who we are. I focused on the comparison between insecurity and confidence. Everyone is beautiful in their own way and I wanted to capture these differences. I started by just photographing girls, but realized that guys have insecurities as well. They struggle with confidence too and I felt that I needed to remind other people about this through my work. I kept the background and coloring consistent to prevent distractions. I did not give any specific instructions. They all chose their insecurity and confidence externally, which shows how these beauty standards and social media affect teenagers
