For my sustained investigation, I knew that I wanted to incorporate my horse, Corel. First, I thought about how I could represent myself through Corel, however, I had a lot of trouble with this because I don't really know who I am still. Then I thought about how I am going to have to leave Corel because of college. The thought of him leaving was haunting my mind constantly. As a result, I decided to switch my sustained investigation towards exploring my relationship with Corel and how we will ultimately separate. My earlier pieces were focused on Corel himself because I was still figuring out how I wanted to represent myself through him. Then I found some candid photos that portray our deep and living connection with one another. Later, I decided that it would be interesting to show the funny and more everyday and goofy relationship that we had. I took some funny selfies with him and drew that out. After, I was struggling with how I wanted to portray our inevitable separation. I thought it would be interesting to focus on space and proximity on the canvas. With this idea I am able to focus on our close relationship as well as portray the amount of distance between us next year. |
